Spain is a wondrous, breathtaking country with so many gorgeous sights to see. To visit them all in one trip might be a bit too much for you to accomplish, and so, here are a couple of recommendations to help you out when it comes to prioritizing where you visit.

The Guggenheim in Bilbao

The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, designed by the world-famous architect, Frank Gehry, is an absolutely fascinating and unique place to visit. The outer part of the was constructed in a wave-like fashion and made out of titanium and glass. This distinct construction was done so as to allow the exterior to catch sunlight and give off an illustrious glow. 

This modern art museum was built in 1997 and within its halls lie the works of many renowned artists such as Rothko,  Louise Bourgeois and Jeff Koons. Whether inside or out, a breathtaking sight awaits you when you visit the Guggenheim.

The Alhambra in Granada

Ancient castles always make for exciting adventures and the Alhambra in Granada is no different. First built all the way back in 889 and later renovated in the 16th century, this castle is a testament to a variety of different styles of architecture and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

Being set atop a hill gives the castle an extravagant view of the city of Granada along with the surrounding countryside and mountains. The inside is equally grand with scenic gardens and Mudéjar–style fountains around every corner.

The Real Alcázar in Seville

Located at the heart of Seville, the Alcázar is an extraordinary Moorish palace that has been deemed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a beautiful example of mudéjar architecture with its gardens being the highlights. The grand arches, palm trees, fountains, flowers and so much more imbue the gardens of the Alcázar with a grand magnificence. There are also peacocks strutting about for you to find. 

The gardens also contain a water organ that chimes in the dot every hour, it is one of the few operational ones still left in the world. Another fun fact about this location is that a part of the fifth season of Game of Thrones was filmed here.

The Patios in Córdoba

This style of constructing homes around a central courtyard was pioneered by the Romans who created it in response to the hot and dry climate of Córdoba. The style still persists to this day with these homes now being called patios. What makes this visit worth is the beautiful decorations and floral arrangements that adorn these patios. They provide breathtaking scenery all year round but if you want to experience the place at its best, you gotta visit Córdoba during the patio festival which is held each year in the month of May.
